Cet itinéraire est un parcours rural et transfrontalier. empruntant un chemin agricole pour traverser la frontière franco-belge et transiter par la municipalité française de Malplaquet.

Malplaquet est connu pour sa bataille du 11 septembre 1709 qui opposa 86000 coalisés dirigés par le Duc de Malborough et le Prince Eugène et l’armée franco-bavaroise composée de 75000 hommes et dirigée par les maréchaux Villars et Boufflers. De nombreuses plaques commémoratives de cette bataille peuvent être découvertes le long du parcours.
